Description
In 2015, ten young oral historians interviewed twenty long-time residents of Salubria Valley in the Upper Country of Washington County, Idaho. This book preserves their unique stories and gives us a glimpse of not only what life was like in and around the town of Cambridge many decades ago, but also how these 8th-graders genuinely connected with the past. These caringly conducted and transcribed interviews, illustrate the value of ordinary lives and the importance of remembering where we came from so that — even if we don’t have a horse to guide us — we appreciate what and where home is.
This book was launched in 2017, and the video below includes both the process of making the book, as well as excerpts from the interviews (it’s stirring to hear the voices of the interviewees themselves and see photos of them that are in the book, especially since some of them have since passed away).
